Latin America is home to the lavish Amazon jungle and the majestic Andean mountains. It is the birth place of the once indomitable Incas, Mayas and Aztecs. Tales of grandeur, heart break, hope, tragedy and resilience abound. The region's past echoes through its rich landscape and its proud people.
In this course students will traverse a continent. You will learn just what is Latin America. Where is it? Who are the people? What makes each country unique and what binds them together? Geography, culture, history and politics all combine on our journey from Mexico to Argentina. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

It's time to embrace our differences and celebrate one another's uniqueness. Understanding the culture, history, traditions and language that shape our neighbours helps connect us and make us more empathetic towards one another.
Kim is a Spanish Language Coach and Culture Advocate who uses her passion for cultural empathy to take Spanish learners from intimidated to loving language and culture. Beginner learners work with her to become more confident using the language to build deeper connections with their loved ones and community members.
As a lecturer of Latin American Studies for the last 10+ years, she has witnessed students transform as they embrace the wonders of a region many have only seen in the news. She loves exploring the multiculturalism of Latin America and treasures opportunities to share her knowledge with others and learn from their experiences too. Her hope is to tear down stereotypes and construct pathways for meaningful interactions across cultures.
